Angelina Jolie Honors Mariane Pearl

Angelina Jolie was radiant as she awarded her friend, journalist Mariane Pearl, with the Fern Holland Award Monday night at the Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards gala in Washington, D.C.

Jolie, who played Pearl in the film version of her book A Mighty Heart, spoke of Pearl’s special gift as a mother and called her an example of “courage, hope and tolerance,” reports the Washington Post.

Pearl, the wife of slain reporter Daniel Pearl, called Jolie “a sister” during her acceptance speech, and the two spent the day together, as their kids – Maddox, Pax and Adam – played.

On Tuesday, Jolie participated in a Council on Foreign Relations event in Washington D.C. The event was to help launch Jolie’s new venture, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which will focus on the work of prominent charity organizations as well as tell the stories of the children in need.

Toni Braxton Hospitalized for Chest Pains

Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton is in “good condition” after being admitted to a Las Vegas hospital for chest pains Monday night, says a spokeswoman for a hotel-casino where the singer has been performing.

The singer, 40, is expected to be released from the St. Rose Dominican Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Flamingo Hotel-Casino rep. She has been headlining her live show “Toni Braxton: Revealed” five days a week at the Flamingo since 2006.

The singer has spoken in public about her heart condition, pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart.

“I found out about five or four years ago” the artist said in February. “I’ve also been diagnosed with hypertension.”

This year, Braxton became a spokesperson for the American Heart Association.

She was not scheduled to perform Sunday or Monday night. Tuesday’s show has been canceled to give the singer time to recover.

“We wish Toni a quick recovery and would like her to take the time she needs to regain optimal health,” said president of Flamingo Las Vegas, Don Marrandino. “We are looking forward to her return at the end of the week.”

Calls to Braxton’s publicist have not been returned.

Fergie is Still Not Pregnant and Cartwheels Prove It

All those pregnancy rumors are starting to make Fergie self-conscious. Dismissing chatter she’s expecting (”No, no,” the pop star insisted), Fergie told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday morning that she stepped up her exercise game in preparation for Fox’s Idol Gives Back special to hopefully squash the rumors. Perhaps to prove it – and also to show off her love of gymnastics – she performed a one-handed cartwheel during Sunday’s taped performance with the group Heart. Catch her skills when the special airs Wednesday on Fox.

Sienna, 26 has bought her 39-year-old hunk of lovin’ Rhys a £3,500 Power Plate exercise machine.  The actress is hoping she can convince her man to tone up ahead of their wedding, which is rumoured to be taking place this summer. A friend of the couple revealed:

‘Poor old Rhys must find it hard to measure up to her exes. He’s always been quite skinny. Sienna loves him but she just wants him to tone up a bit so he looks great for their big day. Rhys received the Power Plate a couple of days ago and he’s been using it already. He’s determined to do whatever he can to make her happy’

Sienna is currently in LA filming the movie GI Joe which has meant she’s been in training to get in shape so she left Rhys home alone with strict instructions to do the same. We spotted the welsh actor outside their London pad yesterday. Now does that look like the face of man that’s been exercising? Looks more like a naughty boy that’s been caught eating cupcakes to us….

Oi Jay-Z! Where’s The Wedding Ring???

The supposedly newlywed rapper left the Bloomberg Building on the Upper East Side yesterday. According to reports Jay-Z married his Crazy In Love girlfriend Beyonce at a lavish ceremony in New York over the weekend. However with both stars representatives yet to confirm the wedding took place and the absence of a ring we were beginning to question whether or not it really took place!! But….

Luckily a photographer congratulated the rapper on his nuptials to which Jay-Z replied ‘Thanks, man’ well that’s as good as their reps confirming it in our opinion…

In other Jay-Z news it’s been reported today that the rapper who is the current headline act for Glastonury is planning on pulling out of this summers event! Apparently an official announcement from the organisers is imminent. If this is the case it will be a massive blow for the organisers who have already reported a slump in tickets sales.
